Dear Shopper,
Let me just tell you that you are not alone in your battle of obsessive shopping. I am right there with you. Honestly, we are probably internally like the best of friends. So let me take you through the eight steps of your regular shopping trip.
First, you know what it is like to walk in to your favorite store and immediately feel relaxed because you are home. You tell yourself that you have to look at every rack and every section to make sure you do not miss anything. You have to leave the store knowing where everything is, just in case you need to go back to get that dress you were debating really hard on.
Second, you start the 'trying on' process. You figure out that romper is way cuter on the manikin then it is on, and the dress you were not so sure about looks extremely sexy on you. From there, you start really falling in love with things so much that you want them in multiple colors.
Third, you start having anxiety in the store because you want all the 500 pieces you are holding, but you know one, you cannot afford it all and two, you don't even know where you would wear half of it to. So you have to tell yourself to mentally calm down so you do not look like a crazy person in public.
Fourth, after finally spending about half the day in one store, you finally decide on what outfits you want to purchase, but next comes the accessorizing. You then need to look at shoes, purses, jewelry, and hair accessories. And so, the process begins again.
Fifth, you have FINALLY made the final cut of what is about to be going home with you. The time has come to head to the checkout line. The cashier is ringing up all your items and you are scared because you do not even want to see the total. They tell you the total and you almost cry because what you are about to pay could possibly be the down payment on a house, but you pay it.
Sixth, you are headed out of the store and tell yourself you cannot afford to go anywhere else because you have to be practical and save what money you now do not have.
Seventh, you pass a window and see the perfect dress for a formal you have not even been asked to, but you have to buy it.
Eighth, you get home and hang up all your beautiful, new outfits. Then you sit down and wonder when you will ever wear them.
Trust me, shopper, it is okay because clothes are your best friends! They will always be there for you whenever you need them. So never second guess that shirt you want.
Xoxo,
Your obsessive shopper.
