To the Christian College Student,
Find YOURSELF, not someone else.
College is known as the time in which young people are told to really “find themselves”, and more often than not, “finding yourself” turns into getting out of your comfort zone, living life without regrets, and sometimes becoming someone you’re not. Have fun and don’t live your life in fear, but don’t forget who you are… or where you came from.
Discipline yourself.
College is tough, there’s no doubt. Between the hours of class, never ending homework, and the lack of sleep -- it’s hard to find time to focus on anything else. When there is time, though, it’s hard to discipline yourself to spend that time reading your Bible or to wake up early on Sunday to go to church alone since your family is hours away. I get that, because I’ve been there, but what I am going to tell you is… it’s worth it.
Stay strong, and confident, in your faith.
Don’t let the ideas and beliefs of your classmates cause you to reconsider the things that you truly believe in. Find a church in your college town to attend on Sundays that you don’t go home, or even join a weekly Bible study to keep you in the Word.
Make friends who share the same beliefs, and hold each other accountable.
Having friends who share your beliefs is very important, mainly because it gives you someone to talk to about things that others may not understand. They can also go to church with you so that you’re not all alone, and they keep you accountable.
Trust Him.
Like I said earlier, college is hard and it can bring a lot of challenges and struggles your way. Keep your head up, pray often, and have faith that God has you in the palm of His hand… and He has no intentions of letting go.
Be happy.
You are loved beyond measure. You are blessed with so many beautiful things made by our Creator. You are given air to breathe, and a voice to sing praises to Him. You are a child of the one true King, and if that isn’t enough to make you happy --- I don’t know what is.
Your sister in Christ,
Courtney.
