Dear Seniors,
Senior year, the year we have all been anticipating since we first stepped foot on campus freshman year. That first year we were so nervous but after a semester we were used to the feel of school and found our place. After that, we weren’t so nervous. We had four years, we were a part of the school, and classes were going pretty great. Things probably felt great all the way until junior year, then everything probably got a little harder. Classes were higher levels, more hours of studying had to be done, and the amount of homework was outrageous. We began to feel stressed. Is this the major for me? Have I wasted all of my time in school doing something I don’t even love? Will I make it through these next two years? Of course as you see now, we made it. We made it to the year we have been anticipating. Guess what? You’re nervous again aren’t you? Except this time you’re not nervous to find your place in school, you’re nervous about the next step in life, and who you will be in the “real" world. I’m here to tell you though, that it’s okay to be nervous. It’s okay to be worried and to question everything. Question it all; make sure you are doing what is best for you. Worry, but don’t worry about what other people say or what they think is best for you. Worry about whether or not you have the grades you want, the scores you want on your exams, and worry about how you feel. Feel everything; feel every moment and feel every memory. Have a ton of friends already? Reach out and make even more. Will they be the best friends you’ve ever had? Maybe not but I bet you will still make some great memories. Don’t lose sight of what is important. Yes, it’s important to be on top of things such as going to class and getting your best grades. However, it is just as important to spend time with your friends and family, making sure that they know these four years wouldn’t have been possible without them. It’s true though, we do a majority of the work but the support we’ve had across the years has made all the difference. I promise, all of your loved ones cannot wait to see you at the finish line this year. So thank them, and then thank them again because they are the ones who truly matter. As that graduation date comes closer, let go of the worry and stress. Pick up your cap and gown and take silly pictures with the friends you’ve kept through your college years. Pass down your new found wisdom and let the younger ones know they’ll be just fine. Then on that special day laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger, and then hold your head high, walk across that stage, and show the “real" world exactly what you are made of.
Sincerely,
A Senior that's ready for the "real" world
