To my loving Sister,

I've watched you grow beautifully over the past couple of years and I honestly could not be more proud of you. You've matured a lot, especially since I've graduated high school and left for college, and I wanted to write you something before you go into high school.

The most important things are these...First of all, high school is NOTHING like high school musical don't expect anything great. Movies lie. Secondly, DRAMA. Thirdly, STUDY. Fourth, ALWAYS STAY TO THE RIGHT OF THE HALL.

Now that you've been told the terrible truths and tips about high school, there are a couple of details you should and might as well know. Let's start with basics. I wish it wasn't this way, where you went through high school on your own because to be completely honest you will have a lot of hard times and I just simply want to be there for you. High school will take you in for four long painful years and spit you back out. By the time four years is up you'll either become one of two people, the one that gets involved and doesn't let anyone get in their way and succeeds at ultimately everything, or the one that sits back and watches everyone do everything. Please if not for anyone you hold dearly, but for yourself become the first person. Do not spend your entire high school worrying about others because you will miss out on a lot. Next, girls are the most hellacious creatures to ever walk this God forsaken planet, become friends with the right ones. You'll know the difference between the good and the bad ones. You're smart ;). Now where do I begin with boys... To put it, in short, don't worry about them. At this point in time of your life, they do not matter. Save them for a later time. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

What's also most important is to not let others judgments or opinions get to you. It will happen to you at some point but never let them influence you to do anything. To quote Erin Van Vuren, "Do not be another flower picked for beauty and left to die, be wild, difficult to find, and impossible to forget." It's important for you to remember this so that you can remain true to yourself. The pressures of high school are simply unfathomable until you experience it. Now, while all the recent talk has been about how terrible high school can be there are a lot of good things you can gain from it too.

Attend pep rallies and get involved with student government it's a great way to get to know everyone and be a part of something great. If you are anything like I was during high school you'll make some unforgettable memories with some great people. I hope you choose to do that.

In closing this letter remember, life is what you make it so make the best of it. Breathe, live, laugh, love, and take pictures because from here on out life doesn't slow down.

Love,

Sissy

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
