Having siblings is possibly the best gift I could have been given. You were given these people that you basically are stuck with for the rest of your life. You know one another better than anyone else. You would do anything to see a smile spread across their faces. I would do anything to protect one of my siblings. If they are hurting, I am hurting. We give each other advice that we have learned throughout our experiences. We hope that they use that advice because we don't want to see them make the same mistake that we have made.
Over the past 19 years, I have been lucky enough to grow up with three siblings. Not only do I have three siblings, but all of them are girls. People ask, "There are four of you?! It must be crazy." Crazy doesn't even scratch the surface.. At times, we all bicker. Of course, it happens in every family. Whether it is the dreaded question of where we want to go to dinner or who left their dishes in the sink, there is always a little argument. Despite these little arguments, I have been so incredibly lucky to have these three people as my absolute best friends.
The bond we have created over the years is something that just can't be described in 500 words. If one of us is laughing, it results in all of us laughing. Most people have no idea what is going on when all four of us are around because of all of the inside jokes we have. Sometimes, even I am confused. Growing up with three sisters has taught me so many things. It has taught me how to share, care, love and empathize. Somehow, all of us ended up being relatively the same size. Therefore, clothing is shared between siblings. We care about one another more than anything. The love that I feel towards my siblings is something I can't describe. I would do anything for them. Mostly, I have learned how to empathize. If one of my sisters is going through something, I do my best to put myself in her shoes to really try to understand how they are feeling. These lessons are lessons that are used in all areas of life.
The list of things I would do for them goes on forever. Oftentimes, we are hard on one another. But that's because we care. I care so much that if one of my siblings succeed at something, I won't shut up about it. I tell every single person who listens. I am the proudest sister ever and couldn't be more thankful that I was given the opportunity to grow up with these three amazing individuals. I love my siblings more than life itself and seriously don't know where I would be without them.
