You're moving on up in the world! Starting high school. Wow, you make me feel old. High school is a time throughout which you'll make a bunch of really great memories, but it may also be a time throughout which you'll make some not-so-great memories. In the end, you'll be thankful for both, I promise.
First and foremost, you are there to LEARN. Don't let anything get in the way of learning and focusing on getting those grades. The grades will eventually come in handy when it comes to getting into that prestigious college you want in so badly.
Girls are going to be mean. Girls will make you feel awful about yourself and some of your best friends may even turn around and talk badly about you. Just know that they're jealous. You're a beautiful, intelligent, young girl and nothing anyone ever says will ever change that. (P.S. if this ever happens I'll kick butt for you.)
Stay involved as much as possible. Whether it be sports, choir, National Honor Society, student council, yearbook, etc. find what you love and stick with it. I guarantee you'll come across some of the nicest people in your life while participating in community service opportunities.
With that being said, don't get down on yourself because you "ride the pine" on the varsity team. Just because you sit the bench doesn't mean you're terrible. You may come across coaches that make you feel like you're the worst person to ever attempt that sport, but I promise you two things. 1.) You're NOT the worst person to attempt that sport. 2.) High school sports really don't matter. It may seem like the end of the world when you're being treated awful over them, but there's so much more to this life.
ALWAYS dress up for spirit days. It's not uncool or weird. I promise. One day you'll be walking around your boring college campus and you'll randomly miss the big poofy blue tutu and the hundreds of gold beads. Get decked out in blue and gold and sit front row at basketball games. Scream your lungs out when your class's basketball star sinks a three point shot to put you ahead of USA in the last quarter of the game. You'll wake up the next morning without a voice, but you're going to miss these nights more than anything one day.
Don't rush it. There are going to be things that you want to happen LIKE NOW such as getting your license or going shopping for the perfect prom dress, but your five years in that building are going to fly by. In the blink of an eye you'll be crossing the stage in your cap and gown preparing to take the next step in your life, so take your time. Laugh when you're happy, and call me when you're sad. You're one phone call I'll never fail to answer.
I love you little sis.
