A Letter To My Hometown Friends
We Heart It

To my hometown friends,

Thank you. There is so much I have to thank you for and I don't even know where to start or what to say because I feel like there is so many things to say. You guys have been the truest friends that I have ever known and I have never met such kind, loyal friends and I am so blessed to have known you guys since I've been a young girl. You guys have seen the best in me and the worst in me as well, but you've always loved me through that. You guys have never in one second in my life made me feel bad about myself or made me question the friendship we have because you have always been uplifting and strive to make me feel good about myself. I only hope you think I've been a good friend back. I love you guys so incredibly much and my heart is filled with so much joy when we talk or I am with you guys.

Being away from all of you in college is so difficult, but the days that we get to Facetime or have a phone call means more than you guys will ever know. You've been an amazing support system even thousand of miles away and I have felt more close with you guys than anyone in physical close proximity to me. There is never a moment where I'm not laughing or enjoying my time with you all because you guys are really so beautiful - inside and out. I've never met such beautiful souls and you all deserve the world. I hope you all know that. You are all such brilliant, funny, enjoyable people to be around and all I can say is how lucky I feel to know you guys.

You have all seen me in my awkward stages and I've seen you in yours, and I love that and I love that you guys still love me through all my weird stages. It's so rare to stay friends with someone that you have known since elementary or middle school, but you all still are the best part of me. We have come so far and I truly do not think that we will stop being friends because the bond we share is beautiful. Whoever you guys end up with will be the luckiest men in the world to share a life with someone as special as you guys are, and they better know that or I'll give them a nice chat. I know I don't nearly tell you all enough how much I love you guys because sometimes I don't know how to gather my thoughts and words and this is still all so jumbled but I love you guys. I love you all so much. You are the most beautiful people I know, and I hope that if you guys ever feel down that you read this and remember how special you are. Because you are.

Love,

Your friend who appreciates everything you guys do

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
