Dear high school me,
I know it's pretty hard right now, you're about to graduate high school, and you don't know where you wanna go in life just yet. You want to please everybody else except yourself. You want to make your teachers, friends and family happy, but you simply forget that you have to make yourself happy first. You'll still have that problem once you get into college, but you'll find moments for just yourself.
The people in high school, most of them who you thought you were cool with, were never cool with you. You probably have an idea of this now, and I'm saying that this is true. Sadly, I know you were hurt because you were being used by people who you thought were your friends. In college, you'll get over this and have your tight group of friends. Those two people you met in your sophomore year of high school, keep them close, trust me.
You probably think this writing thing won't get anywhere—stop thinking like that. Just keep writing. You have people rooting for you right now and that it seems like a lot of pressure is on your shoulders to make everyone proud, it's OK. Sometimes you'll fail and fail hard! You'll get over this fear of failure because you'll finally see that you're not a people-pleasing robot, but an actual human with feelings.
Stop thinking popularity is a thing, it isn't. In college, nobody is going to care if you have the best clothes or best shoes. Don't try to be somebody else, it's not worth it. Once you find yourself, you'll be so happy and fulfilled.
You think you can save people, but sometimes people don't want to be saved, and you just need to leave them behind. You're stronger than you think, not because of the things you've been through, but because of how you've overcome those things.
That one guy you met in high school, keep him around—again, trust me on this.
One more thing before I go, you're beautiful and you'll go places. Don't let negative people's voices get into your head because they'll never take away your intelligence, your drive nor your passion.
You're going to be great and do great things.
Love always,
The person you've become
