Hello,

Obviously, I don't know your name yet, so this can't be more personalized, but I wanted to let you know what an amazing person you have brought into your life. He is one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever had the opportunity to know. You should understand that his life is always busy, and if he doesn't answer your texts or calls or Snapchats right away, he isn't ignoring you. He literally is just too busy to look at them, let alone answer. He will always make time for you, even though he travels away most weekends for his competitions. It can be frustrating for people if they don't realize it is happening to everyone in his life, so I thought I'd let you know, even though I know he has already explained it to you.

He isn't this crazy romantic guy who will do grand public gestures like you see online and in movies. You might have to drop a few hints or just flat out tell him if you want something romantic. He will take it in stride and will be glad to do what he can to make you happy. He will love you with everything he has in his body and he will give you the world. He will be the most devoted person you'll have ever dated.

I've watched him fall in love before and he's almost a different person. That being said, I hope you truly care about him, because I have watched girls hurt him before, and it breaks my heart. He has been burned multiple times because he will give away his heart without questions. I'm hoping you're the one to take it and keep it somewhere safe.

The way he talks about you (which is often) makes him light up. He just is so elated, which is still amazing to see after all the garbage he's been through in love before. I really think this is the most excited and nervous he's been with a girl. He can keep his cool in all other parts of his life, but to see how he still gets butterflies gives me hope for how this is going. The fact that he is someone who is so good at words and using them to his advantage can't even seem to smooth talk his way into your life makes me laugh. It's good to see him so happy he can't speak succinctly.

So, what I'm trying to say is that I haven't seen him this happy in a while, and I'm glad he's happy. I'm glad you're a vital part of his life now, and I hope you and I can be friends, because anyone he cares about the way he does you has to be special. Anyone who has become so vital to his life is also vital to mine. He's like my brother, and I love him a lot, so I try to take care of him. You might be someone who will be able to take care of him too. So welcome, and I hope you'll be around for a while.

Much Love,

Katie

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
