To My Grown-Up Big Sister,
Since the day I was born, you have been in my life. From my first steps learning how to walk to my first steps onto my college campus, you have been around to watch me grow up. Even though you're older than me, I have been privileged to watch you grow up as well.
You've not only been my big sister, but you have also been someone I have looked up to. When I was rooting for you on the sidelines of every high school field hockey practice and game of yours, as well as each collegiate game of yours, I would always say to myself, "I want to play field hockey just like my big sister". We definitely bonded over that, and you play a huge role in why I know about the sport and love it so much to this day. Not only did we connect on a sports level, but we bonded over painting nails, too.
As a kid, it was a while until I ever got my nails done at a spa. Before I ever went there, I always wanted you to paint my nails. Even though I truly did want only you to paint my nails because you did it so perfectly, I "low-key" just wanted an excuse to spend time with you, as much as I teased you and annoyed you sometimes, I guess I just had to 'fulfill' the role of being your 'little sister'. But, as we are a decade apart, we are both finally at ages where we have more common interests and things to connect on.
I am happy that we have been able to find more common ground of things to talk about. I am also appreciative that even though I am in college now, you let me experience college but are not afraid to shoot me a text or give a comment to keep me on the right track. I am thankful to have a sister like you.
It is crazy to think that we won't be living in the same house anymore as we have for nearly two decades of my life, but I completely trust that you are onto better things. You are grown up, and it all went by in the blink of an eye.
We may not be living in the same house anymore like how we did when growing up together, but at least you're not far away. I can always shoot you a text, FaceTime call you, or let alone go visit you in person (which will definitely be a good amount of times).
So, to close this little letter up, I am very proud of you. You have come a long way and overcome so much; I couldn't be more proud of the sister, mother, and soon to be wife that you are.
Keep kicking butt at life...
Love,
Your Little Sister
