An Open Letter To The Friends That Stuck By My Side

Friends come and go, but you stayed, and that means a lot.

Dear friends,

I've never been one to have a big group of friends. I always wanted a group of people that I could trust and have fun with. I've seen many friends come and go, but the ones I have right at this moment, are the ones who've stuck by me through the roughest times.

Thank you for always being there. Thank you for putting up with me constantly. Thank you for showing me that you care, even when I want to believe that no one does.

You've been there through a lot. From happy days to gloomy days. From the beginning of relationships to the heartbreaks.

Even when I feel like I have no one, I know that I have you guys. Some of you I may have just met at college, and some of you I might have known for a while. Either way, thank you for always being there for me when I need someone to vent to. I know I'm not the easiest friend to comfort or deal with, but thank you for always trying.

Thank you for the late night talks, the adventures, the food dates, all of it. Thank you for sticking by my side through whatever life threw at me. I don't know why you stuck around through such rough times, but I'm so thankful that you did. I don't know where I'd be without the support system that I have.

I know that I'm pretty lucky in life, even though I may not feel like I am in times because I have you guys. There's never a dull moment with you guys. I can be in the worst mood possible and you guys will make me smile.

I'm not one to have a huge group of friends. I keep my circle small because I'd much rather have quality over quantity. I'd much rather have caring and real friends than to have a bunch of back-stabbing girlfriends.

Thank you for everything you've done for me.

Sincerely,

Julia

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
