A Letter to My Big

A friendship that forever can't be broken.

A Letter to My Big
Faith Abraham

Dear Big,

I love you.

I turned around yesterday knowing that the person behind me was going to have to love me know matter what and you were stuck with me. I turned around knowing that you were going to be there for me through all the good times and all the bad times. I was going to have someone to show me the real meaning of sisterhood in Chi Omega.

When I saw you for the first time my heart instantly opened up for the first time in a long time. I knew you were my person and I could be myself crazy around you. I now have someone to go to the pumpkin patch with me and take cute sorority girl pictures with. You will be the one I call at 1am for a Waffle House date. You will be the one I call when I'm struggling with life and just need someone to eat pizza with.

And just as you will be there for me, I will always be there for you. When you lock your keys in your car and need a ride, I'll be there. When you need someone to be your tailgate partner or even your early morning Starbucks date, I'll be there. You can come over to my house and my mom will probably adopt you as one of her own. She'll make you a fancy dinner and tell you embarrassing stories of me from middle school and high school. I will even share my three dogs if you need to cuddle.

If you are feeling down and just need a laugh, know that I own an authentic left shark suit from the Katy Perry video. I also make the weirdest noises for the weirdest reasons. There is never a dull moment with me and I believe that it will only get crazier with the two of us together. We can take late night drives and talk about how we aren't ready to be adults yet, but we're already in college. We will have jam sessions where we go from Hannah Montana, to Luke Bryan, to Future and Drake.

You are my person. You will always be my person, just as I am now your little forever. Nothing is going to come between us. I will travel the world for you and even offer you the last slice of pizza in the box. That's what real love is.

I love you Big,

Your Little

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
