Dear Best Friend,
First off, I want to say thank you because I don’t say it nearly enough. Thank you for being my sister, my secret keeper, and my rock all of these years. Thank you for sticking by my side through the thick and thin, and thank you for being my ray of sunshine even on the cloudiest of days.
I love you best friend, and I truly don’t know where I’d be without you. You’ve seen me at my best, at my worst, and everywhere in between. You know me inside and out and always know what to say when I am in desperate need of advice. We’ve made it through the simpler days of elementary school, our awkward stages in middle school, and survived the hectic years of high school together. I know this sounds cliche, but time has truly flown by. It seems like just yesterday we were making music videos in my playroom, stuffing our faces with cookies, TP-ing the neighbor's house and prank calling everyone we knew. We've always been a package deal, and I can't imagine causing this sort of mischief with anyone else.
Now, as we are both finishing up our senior year of college, and are taking our own paths, I am relieved and thankful to say that I know nothing can break the bond we have.
We went from living just a few short blocks away, to going to different schools and living several states away, but that hasn’t changed a thing. No matter how many months we go without seeing each other, we can pick up right where we left off without skipping a beat. After all these years, I know without a doubt that I can count on you, and you can count on me.
Your family has always been a second family to me, and mine has been yours. My fondest memories growing up have been with you, and I can't wait to make many millions more in the years to come. Our countless inside jokes will always be funny, even though it’s getting harder to remember how we came up with some of them in the first place. Your personality lights up a room, your love for both people and animals is a beautiful thing to witness, and it is impossible to be anything but happy while in your company. You have a heart of gold, and you push me to be a better person.
As kids, we planned out our futures together. There was never a plan that didn’t involve you by my side. Our ideas were a bit elaborate and extreme at times (like when we decided we were going to live in a mansion together with several horses, a movie theater and a bowling alley), but I think they still sound pretty great to this day. Even now, all these years later at the start of our adult lives, we still plan our next steps together. I can't wait to explore new cities with you after graduation and live paycheck to paycheck for the sake of adventure.
We’ve grown up, we’ve changed a lot, we’ve experienced life apart, but at the end of the day, you are my person. I need you in my life, and I hope you will always need me in yours. I can't wait to see what our bright future holds.
Love,
Your Best Friend
