One of the best parts about joining Theta Phi Alpha this semester, besides all the lovely women I now call my sisters, was getting my Big. For those who don't know a Big is given to you while you start in the sorority, they are the hand the guides you through everything and become your other half.
There was a week dedicated to getting clues from our Big's before it was revealed to us that Friday. Every day, we had to go pick up a gift that had a little letter inside for us. These letters had clues or just our Big telling us how excited they were to be revealed. Each day I looked forward to getting my letter and reading everything in the letters. Although from day one I was almost positive of who she was, in the end being correct, many of sisters could not tell. During the reveal, I was anxiously waiting to know who she was and once I did I couldn't contain how excited I was!
My lovely Big, Jenny, was one of the first sisters I met during recruitment week and she just had this fun, happy attitude that made you want to be her best friend. Since finding my Big and getting to know her more I could not be any happier, prouder, or more inspired to be a better person. Not only is she a great person, she is also a straight up savage and we have so much in common. There has not been a day that has gone by without a Snapchat (we have a pretty large Snap streak going on right now!), text, Facebook tag, or message being sent from the both of us to the other. She always seems to know what I need before I need it, like my own Albus Dumbledore except not a man and not hundreds of years old!
Another amazing thing about my Big is her Big, my Grand Big. Having both of them in our little family, the family that never has their stuff together is just the cherry on top of an ice cream Sunday! These two amazing women are amazing and I know that they are always there for me whether it's a hug, a vent session, or just a laugh. These two women are two that I look up to so much and love so much.
Having a Big and an entire sorority family is something that makes you feel so at home at college, especially when you live on campus. You have all these girls by your side no matter what. They have made me feel at home and I know that someone is always around for anything. The number of times I have spent with my Big are too many to even count! She is always there to do homework together, just hang out, or randomly popping out of nowhere!
Thank you Big and Grand Big for being my fam.
Love,
Little/G Lil
