To My Best Friend,
It’s no secret that choosing to go to college far away from home was a difficult decision for me. I knew it meant leaving behind my family, my hometown that I adore so much and my very best friends. I knew above all that by going away, I would find out who my true friends are. And above all, I knew it’d be you. My person, no matter what.
Thank you for picking up every time I call. We both lead busy lives, full of classes, extracurricular activities and basically trying to remain sane in these crazy college years. Despite all that, every time I call, no matter what time of day (or night), you’re just a FaceTime away. I could talk to you for hours on end, even through a tiny rectangular device.
Thank you for always picking up right where we left off. No matter the span of time, the three months between Summer and Thanksgiving, or the four weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, our friendship never changes. I always feel right at home with you. Even during this ridiculous and ever-changing time in our lives, you and I are a constant. I am so, so grateful for that and wouldn’t trade our friendship for the world.
Thank you for understanding me, always. I can honestly say you are the one person in this entire universe who knows me better than I know myself. You always know the right thing to say, and always have the perfect advice to give, even if I don’t want to hear it. Your honesty has saved me quite a few times, in all aspects of life. You make me stronger, and I hope I do the same for you.
You’ve shown me what a true friend is. I miss you endlessly. Just know that although we don’t live just a few minutes from each other anymore for the majority of the year, and we can’t see each other as much as we’d like to, you will always, always be my person. My rock. My best friend forever.
Love,
Your BFF
P.S. Thanksgiving truly can’t come soon enough.
