Dear Mr. President

We have to talk.

Dear Mr. President,

Hi, you don't know who I am, in fact, you'll probably never even get the chance to know who I am. But who I am is a civilian, a civilian of the country that you're now in control of. The people of the United States wanted a change, I guess that's what you represented for them. Anyways, before I go any further, I just want to say congratulations, because you are now the president of a great country (pun intended) and we the people are not afraid to put anyone in their place.

With your first week in the office, I hope you and your family get accommodated and adjust well, I hope that your family finds living in the White House to be a great experience.

Here's what I really hope for though:

I hope you take the time to really research how your decisions could affect the state of the nation, and our relationship with other countries. I know you claim that you have no ties to Russia, but seriously those people don't fuck around and they are a real threat to this nation should you do something that they don't like.

The same goes for North Korea, their leader will NOT hesitate to initiate a nuclear war, and I would really love to graduate college without having my home county obliterated. I hope you take the time to get to know the LGBTQ community, and to listen to their concerns and wishes (and tell your VP that too). I hope you don't take away the right for anyone to marry who they love, that would make so many more people dislike you, do you really want that?

I hope you take a look at the justice system and find that it is biased and unjust, and I hope that you make the necessary changes to make sure that those proven guilty in a court of law are appropriately punished (cough cough, Brock Turner, seriously, could you just throw that guy in Guantanamo Bay or something? Literally NO ONE wants him walking the streets). I hope that you can make people feel safe in their communities, and that you can mend the broken relationship between the community and the police force.

I hope that you can help our (very) broken education system (because really, I'm almost 99% sure even you have more educational experience than Betsy-big-mouth) and PLEASE HELP OUR TEACHERS. We are NOT overpaid, I can assure you that. You have children, you probably sent them to a really good school and they got an outstanding education because of the teachers there. Many children (especially low-income families) don't have the luxury of doing that.

Can you believe that? There are children in 8th grade who struggle to read at a 3rd grade reading level. These are the children that are going to be taking on the future roles of the future cabinet members, future congress members, future doctors, lawyers, teachers, well you get the picture. Please please please don't let Bimbo Betsy be in charge of so many children's future's.

I also hope that you can fix our economy. Everyone (except the elites) is struggling right now, the housing market is trash, interest rates are "eh" to "oh my god I'm having a stroke" kind of numbers, and there just aren't enough jobs man, can you PLEASE come up with a way to find us some more jobs (or at least make it a little easier to get one?).

I love our country just like you do, but I don't love the way the environment is. You may not believe in "climate change" but something is wrong with our environment, and there are a lot of things that we can change to make this country even greater.

I hope this letter miraculously makes it to your computer, desk, phone, something. I hope you get to read this and it sticks with you. People really did vote you into that position, and we deserve the change that they saw you representing (we don't need a wall, we don't have that kind of money bud, sorry). It's time we ALL work together to make America the greatest it could be.

-An American.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
