An Open Letter to Mothers Everywhere

"A boy's best friend is his mother." -Norman Bates

An Open Letter to Mothers Everywhere

From fetus to full-grown, you've nagged us through it all, and we love you for it. We've put you through hell, and now we want to say a few things to make up for it. So put on your readers, because this one's for you.

Mom. You're weird. There's no denying it.

You try your best to fit in with our friends...

to a truly terrifying degree.

You get all up in our business.

And you tell our most embarrassing stories to everyone.

You like to remind us of who is boss...

even when you have to ask us for technology help.

You never fail to scare us with your "hipness."

And most of the time our only response is:

But behind all of that, you love us. You care for us.

You are the one to wipe our tears and cheer us up.

You aren't afraid to show us the tough love we know we need.

And we know you really do know what you're talking about.

We love you even when we can't show it.

And behind every snide comment we make, we really mean "I couldn't live without you."

Lord help anyone who tries to hurt us, because we know who who they will have to deal with.

And we also know that no matter how far we run, you'll be right behind us with open arms.

Mom, we love you dearly. You are a hero to us, and we will never forget you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
