A Letter to Community Bathroom Users

After 20 minutes of tossing and turning before finally getting comfortable in your twin XXL bed you come to the tragic realization: you have to pee. You try your best to hold it, but eventually you give in. You know what this means: you have to get out of bed, put on shoes and walk all the way to the bathrooms. The walk to the bathroom now seems like a mini-marathon as you race down the hallway trying to get there before peeing your pants.

Dear Community Bathroom Users,

We’re all in the same boat. Nobody wants to share a bathroom with 30 other people, but we can all work together to make it a little more tolerable if we could all just follow a few simple steps.

First, and most importantly, clean your hair up (I beg you). I know, us girls tend to have lots of hair and sometimes it sheds, but come on. There’s nothing worse than walking into a shower stall with a huge hairball waiting for you or going to wash your face and seeing millions of stands of hair covering the counter-tops and sinks. So if we all clean up our own this problem could be easily avoided.

Next, put your paper towels and trash in the trash can-not near it. They have huge 30 gallon trashcans for a reason: so you don’t throw them all over floor. Yet somehow every day 20 wet brown paper towels magically appear and cover the ground surrounding the trash can (so close yet so far).

Also, clean the sinks out. These college bathroom sinks are not the same quality as your sinks with garbage disposals back at home. If you do dishes in there, your leftover food is going to get stuck on the drain. No matter how much you try to get it down the drain by running water, it’s not going anywhere. Take a paper towel and scoop it out and throw it out (in the trashcan). I think we can all agree the nauseating feeling when you go to brush your teeth and find a big pile of someone’s left over dinner chunks sitting in the sink.

There’s no question: community bathrooms suck and there’s not much we can do about it. So if we all work together we can make the bathrooms less disgusting!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
