Dear College Graduates,
You did it! Congratulations!
I hope you enjoyed your college experience as much as I did. It was fun, memorable, and I learned so much. I graduated from SUNY Albany in 2016, and it was the best and worst day of my life for me. My loved ones were there to cheer me on. However, I realized that my college experience was over and now I must "adult".
If it is okay I would like to leave you all with some advice; don't be discouraged if you don't get a job right out of college. The job hunting world is extremely competitive. Also, their qualifications for a job are utterly ridiculous and they want you to have a master's and10 years of work experience for entry level jobs.
Use the connections that you made at school for job hunting; it will very much benefit you. And watch out for the post-graduate depression. It is real. It is a big transition moving from having your friends around you and being independent to moving back home, not knowing what to do next. It is okay, just don't go too down in he slump.
You worked hard those four years and deserve that degree. I know some have many loans to pay off but I am sure the experience was worth it. Also, do not expect to get your dream job right out of school; some are lucky to obtain that right away and others need to work their way up to it.
One important thing I want to ask is to please use the skills and tools you learned from college to better the world for future generations to come. With so many horrible things going on such as shootings, global warming, bullying, drugs, animal killings, racism, etc. we need you to make it better with that degree and I know you guys can do it.
I college was well for you all and the adult world treats you even better. Be kind and stay humble, and always do greatness.
