I am in a sorority that has changed my life in ways I never thought were possible. I have become a stronger and better woman. Here is my thank-you letter to my sorority -- I wouldn't be where I am today without you.
Dear Tri Sigma,
Thank you for showing me how to become a better women of character and live our values every day. Thank you for helping me realize that no challenge is too big to overcome. Thank you for helping me understand that in order to receive much, you must give much. Thank you for allowing me to see what it's like having sisters that I can count on to boost me up when I'm feeling down. I'm so thankful and grateful that the sisters of Tri Sigma gave me the opportunity to become apart of their sisterhood when I was a potential new member back in the spring of 2014. Before coming to college, I never would have thought that an organization could have such an impact on its members.
Prior to joining Tri Sigma and coming to college, I had no interest in going Greek and only knew of Greek organizations that were talked about in the movies. My mom was Greek but didn't really talk about her sisters or her chapter. The only thing I could compare Greek life to was "Legally Blonde," and I did not see myself in an organization like Delta Nu (sorry, Elle Woods). However, when I came to college, my perception of Greek life changed once I got to know the members of the different organizations and what each organization stood for. I feel in love with Tri Sigma because I knew that I would be accepted and supported by the confident, strong, and sincere sisters I meet during recruitment. Since becoming a member of Tri Sigma, I've leaned how to become a better leader, gained valuable leadership skills, and discovered how if you empower women, they can change the world. My sisters inspire me everyday to be the best person I can be and are always there to encourage me along the way. As our chapter's president, I try to live our values everyday and lead by example.
So thank you, Tri Sigma! For helping me realize that with a little faith, hope, love, wisdom, and power, I can change the world -- and will always have the support of my sisters to guide me along the way. I could not imagine my life without you.
