A Letter To The Senior In High School

Never did I think I would see the day where I started to miss high school. Having to get up so early in the morning, being stuck at home and not living on my own, and constantly being under supervision of my parents. However, now being away from home has me missing some things.

High school was just an okay time for me- not fantastic but not awful. I went everyday, got my schoolwork done, tried to get good grades, and kept up a semi-social life on the weekends. I was mainly just looking ahead to college and getting out of my hometown. Like many others, I was ready to get out-of-state and move onto the next phase in my life.

However, now looking back, I took so many things for granted. Those Friday night football games in a small hometown. Knowing basically everyone in your graduating class and having been in classes with them since elementary school. The professors who completely inspired you and changed your way of thinking and how you live your life. All the free time I had to enjoy and not being piled down with schoolwork all the time. Those home cooked meals your mom made that you never fully appreciated, until now having to cook for yourself in college. Spending time with my family and seeing all my friends every single day.

While it may seem like you’re stuck in high school and you cant wait to get out, soak up all of this time. You will never get this time back. High school is only for four years, but it goes by in the blink of an eye. Sure, you have so much to look forward to with college, but stay in the present and appreciate every single moment. These are the years you will never get back.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
