Dear Nan and Pop,

Since you guys are such big supporters of my writing, I figured now would be the perfect time to dedicate an article to you. Even though I've only been around for a small part of your lives, you've been around my entire life and I can't explain how thankful I am for that, but I can start to.

Not everyone is lucky enough to have both grandparents around, let alone have them live nearby. Lucky for me, I've never been further than a 15 minute drive from your house. One of my oldest memories is from when I was waiting outside with my pre-school class to be picked up and Pop showed up in a firetruck with a carseat in the front, proving that I had the coolest grandpa. The car rides never stopped after that, whether it was school, a game, practice, rehearsal, or I was lost at the Garden State Plaza, you guys were always there to pick me up.

Even if it wasn't because I needed a ride, you guys have always been there to support me. Every concert, musical, regatta, or ceremony I could always look into the crowd and see you guys there for me. No matter what my new interest is, you guys constantly support me. A perfect example being these articles, receiving a share from Nan on Facebook and a comment from Pop. Thanks to you guys always telling me how much you enjoy reading every article, I am always trying to become a better writer.

Another one of my favorite memories is the time I walked into the nail salon and the ladies working there immediately knew "I must be Wendy's granddaughter." I love finding out how much you talk about us and it shows how loving you are to not only your children, but also your grandchildren.

Recently, we celebrated your 50th anniversary where I was reminded of just how long you guys have been together and providing a loving environment for everybody in your lives. You guys are full of love that you never hesitate to pass on to others. Whether its through a life-lesson story told by Pop or Nan always having a new bag of chocolate covered pomegranates for me when I walk in the door.

Thank you for always being there for me and everybody in our family, for the countless sleepovers and holiday celebrations in a home that not only I grew up around, but that my mom also grew up in. One of my favorite parts about coming home from college is being able to visit you guys and catch up. Thank you for all that you've done, for loving me unconditionally and for being a part of some of my greatest memories. I don't know where I'd be without you, I love you!

Love,

Hannah

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
