Dear Friends,
This letter is a simple 'thank you' to every person who made my college experience what it is today. Without you all, I would not have had the courage to break out of my shell, explore new things, meet new people, and enjoy everything that college has to offer.
I am forever grateful for you because...
You welcomed me.
Especially when I awkwardly came into your dorm room on the first day introducing myself and exploring your wall decor. Even though it was a strange situation, you still let me in and talked with me.
You never let me go anywhere alone.
Like those orientations and barbeques in the quad that no one wanted to go to, but it was a good excuse to get out of the dorm. Or going to the first frat party we heard about even though we didn't know anyone there.... or even where 'Greek Row' was located.
You would go on Netflix binges with me.
"Oh there's a new 20 episode season of HIMYM on Netflix? Well we better get started!"
You were always down to go to the dining hall.
I mean, who would ever let a friend eat alone, right? And don't think I'll forget about the time that I forgot my I.D. and lanyard (classic) and you bought my dinner. I still owe you for that.
You always made sure I was safe.
When I called you that one Thursday night needing a ride home, you dropped your popcorn and put the Netflix aside and came running to my rescue.
We were friends then and we'll be friends forever.
Transitioning from high school to college can be one of the most awkward times of a person's life... And we went through it together. More importantly, we made it out alive. I wouldn't have wanted to share those memories with anyone else. The boredom, the stress, the worry, and of course the homesickness. Thank you for being there through it all. I will never forget the countless hours we spent on our dorm floor's lounge watching movies and eating ice cream or staying up 'till 4 a.m. terrorizing our poor RA's. You all are the friends that I can count on forever. Thanks for making my first year of college better than I could have ever imagined.
XOXO,
Your eternally grateful dorm friend
