To my Brother's Girlfriend,
So, you've been in my brother's life for quite a while now. I've noticed a change in him. Once a young man coming out of college, he is now a man with a vision for his life. Once a guy who liked to be the life of the party, now a man who likes to have fun but in a responsible way.
My brother is not only my brother; he is my best friend, my bodyguard, the person who knows me the best. We have had some downs in our lives, but we always know that we can go to each other for advice and comfort. I can't tell you how many times he has saved my ass from my parents, from sticky situations, and from many low points.
He, with my father as well, has been my right hand man. He has been there for me through all the stress. Whether from school, friendships, and those oh so wonderful boy problems. While he may have gotten annoyed at times, he has always been there to support me. He always assures me that I am loved and safe. That's what makes him the greatest brother ever.
So, when he said you had come into his life. I was filled with emotions that's for sure. I was definitely happy. When he is happy, I am happy. He's my best friend for heaven's sake. No one wants their best friend depressed. But then I was also a little scared. Relationships are scary and some may end. I don't want my brother hurt at all. AT ALL. So, my sisterly instinct immediately came to the forefront yet I kept my cool.
Finally, the day came when I first met you. I know you may not know this, but I was hella nervous. I didn't want to make the wrong impression on you because I had heard so much about you from my brother. You were definitely everything he said you were. Kind, bubbly, and an infectious smile. Not to mention one of the smartest people ever. I could definitely see why my brother was so fond of you. The scared feeling from before? Disappeared. I knew that this was a good match. You definitely passed the test. (I hope I passed yours too.)
Now months have passed and we have gotten to know each other. I can definitely say one thing. I am so blessed to have you in my life. You have helped me in situations where many could not. Not even my brother!
Here's a big thank you. For making my brother a better person, for making my brother happy, for bringing joy to my family. But most importantly, for being the big sister the man upstairs forgot to give me.
