Going into college, everyone plans on meeting their future spouse, and falling deeply and insanely in love. It is said that 90 percent of people meet their soulmate by the end of their sophomore year. I'm proof that this statistic is true. I did find my soul mate, but not the one you’d expect. I found my soul mate in the form of my best friend, someone I can not possibly live without. I want to say thank you.
Thank you for being completely open with me, to the point that we have no boundaries. There is no such thing as too much information between us. Thank you for talking about the dirtiest things with no shame, and for giving me such vivid descriptions of your lady problems. Thank you for being in sync with my hormones, because this way I don’t need to binge eat by myself.
Thank you for offering me a second family. Your parents treat me as their second daughter and mine, vice versa. Thank you for being my twin. More than once someone has told us both, “You’re like the same person in different bodies,” which should come as no surprise since we’re always together. You also have the exact same taste in music, which makes it easy to jam out with you.
Although you have different types when it comes to boys -- which is actually a good thing -- we both know who is good for each other. No matter our differences, somehow, we’re still exactly the same. We are so alike, it makes distance easy; it will never change anything between us. You’re home for the summer and we barely have time for each other. We are both working full time, but no matter how busy we are, when you need me, I’m there, and vice versa. I cannot imagine life without you.
Thank you for sharing everything with me, even if it might break my heart. When someone tells you a secret, and makes you swear that you can’t tell anyone, that doesn’t include me. You tell me as soon as you get the chance. Thank you for taking in my enemies as your own, and vice versa. If I hate her, you hate her, and sometimes you end up hating her even more that I do.
Most of all, thank you for sharing your happiness with me. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing you happy, and I will do anything I can to continue to bring happiness to you. I beam with pride every time you accomplish something. I am so proud of you when I know you achieve something, whether it’s an A on your economics test, or planning an event that turns out successful.
We make plans together for the future, as any soul mates would. Holidays will be spent together with our own families, when we're older, along with our husbands, who will happen to be brothers. Our children will grow up together, and we will get to spend the rest of our lives together drinking chai tea lattes on our front porches.
