A Letter My Best Friend Might Need Right Now

I hate that you're going through this, but I've got your back.

A Letter My Best Friend Might Need Right Now

I once wondered what it would be like if I did not have you as my best friend. I know that that will never have to be a reality for me, but considering our numerous years of friendship, and everything that we have endured and conquered, I can only try to put into words how thankful I am that you are my best friend. That being said, I want you to know a few things.

Obviously that I love you and I am here for you, you always know that but I feel as though telling you too often is not a possibility. When it comes to ugly situations, we have always been there for each other. Boys. Parents. Siblings. Other friends. Whatever it was, we knew that we had each other.

I am so blessed to have a best friend like you. Anytime I would need you, you were there. I know how cliched that sounds, but it is a statement that also means a lot. Knowing that there is someone who chooses to be one of the people you default to, means something. We know each other's secrets, and know that there is never any judgement. That, my friend, is worth a lot just by itself.

You are one of the absolute strongest people that I know. When it comes to the things that you are going through with your family right now, with your dad being sick and such, you are still there when I call, still at my house every weekend, and still laughing and smiling. It's not that nothing is wrong, it's that you refuse to let it get the best of you. Sure, there are a lot of times that it gets emotional, but you keep on trucking through it, making every minute count.

I wish that I could accurately sum up our friendship and what exactly it means to me, but there are no words to successfully do it. You are my absolute best friend on this entire planet, and for that, I would like to thank you. I would not have been able to handle this crazy life without you right by my side. I hate everything that you are going through, but just know, I've got your back.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
