The new year has arrived, and with a new year comes a clean slate. Reflect on the good memories of the last year and learn from the bad. Don't let any of the mistakes weigh you down. This is your chance to make things right.
It's also a leap year so you have an extra day to do everything on your list for this year. With that in mind, I'm here to motivate you to make this year at least a little better than the last.
Get into your rhythm. I know getting into the swing of things after the holidays is rough but the sooner you get back to your schedule, the sooner you'll start knocking things off your list. It will be worth it at the end of the year when you have a list of accomplishments to show.
Step outside your comfort zone. I don't mean every day but make sure that you're doing things that are new and exciting. Take a day every month to try something you've always wanted to. It could be as simple as trying Thai food for the first time or seeing your first horror movie. Each month will present you with an opportunity to do something out of the ordinary, to break the monotony of day to day life.
Your greatest enemy is you. Don't let yourself stand in the way of what you want to do and who you want to become. Sometimes all it takes is a moment of self confidence and viola, the transformation has begun. Push yourself, be the better you that you've always imagined.
Overcome what others think. I'd say don't care but most of us are incapable of not caring, no matter how hard we try. The important thing is to take what these people think and use it to your advantage. It can be what drives you to finish school or what pulls you to some new activity. It's not about not listening to everyone that's trying to pull you down. It's about hearing what they say and proving them wrong.
Make yourself happy. At the end of the day the person that has to live with whatever happens is you. Make sure you're doing things because you want to, not because others want you to. On the other hand, it may also be wise to not become a narcissist. But hey, that's my opinion.
Just remember that no matter what's going on, there's a way to get through it. Build a support system of friends and family to get through the tough times with and celebrate the good moments. Have a happy new year everyone!
