To the lovely Michelle Obama,
Thank you for the past eight years during which you served as the First Lady. During your service, you showed the country what it means to serve the country with class, grace and an amazing sense of humor. You time and time again presented to the nation both the importance and benefit of having women, especially women of color, in positions of power.
Amongst the many projects the First Lady supported in order to help millions of Americans, Michelle Obama worked hard to ensure girls around the world were given the opportunity to go to school. The "Let the Girls Learn" initiative worked to ensure education for girls in order for them to have equal opportunities in life as well as develop healthier families and stronger communities. Michelle Obama's encouragement of education for all women, despite socioeconomic standing, location or race represents her fight for a brighter future for women everywhere.
During a time in which women in power are harshly criticized for how they speak, what they wear and pretty much every other detail about them, you handled all criticism with class. In a world where women are still not treated equally to men, Michelle Obama constantly fought the battle in the name of the equal treatment of women. Young girls now believe they deserve to be treated equally and with respect because of the tireless work of the First Lady.
Because of you Michelle Obama, a generation of young women are ingrained with the values of compassion, dedication, and class. Over the course of the past eight years, young women in the United States, along with the rest of the world have been encouraged to seek out opportunities beyond gendered limitations. Because of your work, young women everywhere believe they have the power to lead.
Lastly, it is important to thank First Lady Michelle Obama for the hope she has provided the country and women specifically. Throughout her service, Michelle Obama has kept her head high and has encouraged us all to do the same. She has reminded us that "when they go low, we go high". With her eight years of service as our First Lady behind us, it is comforting to know that Michelle Obama will always be there for the American people to provide hope and encouragement.
Thank you, from all of us.
