A Letter To A High School Senior From A College Freshman
Elizabeth Marcyoniak

Up to this point in your life your path has been laid out for you for the most part. You've gone from elementary school, to middle school, to high school and now it's April of your senior year. Decision day is around the corner and the right path for you is unknown.

There is the "normal" option of going to college. If you have decided that this is what you are going to do, there is a lot of uncertainty. What are you going to major in? Where are you going to go? Should you go to a state school or a private school? How are you going to afford it?

You've done all the tours and filled out all the applications and no you are faced with this choice- what school am I going to go to? Where am I going to spend the next four years of my life? This is the part that gets tricky- do you go to the school with the best academics or the best parties? What about the price tag- do you go the least expensive school with mediocre academic programs or the expensive school that leads the field in your area of study? How do you choose where you should go when your educational journey has been laid out for you until now?

Don't think to much. Your head is probably consumed with all of the variables that come around this decision. Life is variable. You cannot anticipate everything that may or may not happen. Have faith and take a risk.

Know that college is what you make of it. You may not go to your number one school, but after your first semester you will be so in love with your school, you will question how it wasn't your top choice all along.

Go where you are going to grow. Go where you will be challenged academically, mentally, physically, and socially. As scary as the price tag may be, it will all be worth it in the end.

Once you get to the school you choose to go to, know that it isn't going to be easy- and if it is easy then you aren't challenging yourself. Push yourself and challenge yourself everyday. Don't take the easy way out.

College is about challenging yourself, growing, and learning. Take risks, try new things, and remember life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
