Letter From An Outgoing Executive Council Officer

With the changing seasons and falling leaves comes a time in every Panhellenic chapter that is both exciting and nerve-racking for all those involved. Executive office applications are sent out, many apply, many are interviewed, and (approximately) 11 lucky leaders are chosen for the upcoming school year to be the faces that represent who you are as a chapter. These are the girls that sit in front at chapter meetings, the girls you turn to when you don't know what to do, the ones who are there to serve and inspire you continuously. As someone who has been on the Exec couch and will not be returning for a victory lap, here's some parting words of wisdom and sentiment for those who have stood with me and those who will be taking my place.

To my fellow outgoing exec members, it feels like only yesterday we were selected for our positions and now here we are, about to hand them over to the next generation of leaders. Crazy stuff, man. Thank you for helping me grow as a person and as a leader. Thank you for always holding me accountable, lending a helping hand, sharing in crazy group texts and opening your hearts to me. Serving with all of you has truly been an honor and I cannot imagine not having this experience. Thank you for renewing my passion for our chapter and reminding me that I'm capable of anything I set my mind to. Each of you continue to hold a special place in my heart and as sad as I am to be leaving comfort of the council, I know that we have all poured our hearts and souls into making our chapter better and that we leave it in hands of those we trust to continue our legacy.

To the incoming officers - words cannot express how incredibly excited I am for each and every single one of you. This experience is truly special and it's not given to just anyone. You were chosen for a reason. Remember that now the eyes of the chapter are on you, more so than ever before. People will begin to look to you when they are lost, they will look to you for what is right. The right thing isn't always the easy thing, and that's a lesson I had to learn the hard way. Hold your position and your fellow council members close to your heart for now you share a unique and special bond.

To my chapter - Thank - you for giving me the opportunity to represent you. Thank you for trusting me to do what's best for the chapter and for continuously believing in me. It has been such a rewarding experience serving on this council for the last year. I trust that you continue to put the same faith in this executive council that you have put in me. I know that you are in good hands and that only good things will continue to come to you.

It's been real. Catch y'all on the flip side.

Sarah

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
