A Letter To A Friend Going Through Tough Times

Hi, I love you.

Its been a tough couple days and I know you are fully aware of that. Although you will put a smile on your face to take on the day, this time has been rough.

You are enough, a thousand times enough.

I love you. And I mean that to the fullest extent. I love the person you are and the great person you will become in the future. You are not only an amazing person but you are one heck of a friend. Through everything that has brought you to where you are today, you have stayed humble and loving. I admire your courage and I am beyond blessed to call you my best friend.

You deserve nothing that has happened these past days. The actions of others do not define you or the person that you are. You are more than this obstacle and the last thing I would ever want to see is your character and spirit change due to such unfortunate circumstances. You are beautiful inside and out. I know your kind heart will get you far in life. Nothing that has happened should have happened and you got stuck in the line of cross fire. And even when you have felt your lowest, you have kept a level head which is more than I ever expected. You acted rational and continued living your life the only way you knew how.

Your strength is something that I will always admire. I knew in the beginning, when things started to turn south, that there was nothing I could do to fix the issue at hand. This is your issue to handle, and you were fully aware of that. I also knew that your strength would carry you through the rough waters. I didn't want to be strong for you, I wanted to be strong with you.

There is nothing more I wish than for this to go away for you. But you and I both know that wishing will get one nowhere. Prayer however, and latching on to the faith that brought you strength and love, now that will get you where you need to be. You were the one to continually remind me of this, even though that was clearly my job. I believe that God is testing your strength because he knows you have the power to withstand anything. And with the power of God and those who you surround yourself with, I know you can overcome this. I believe in you.

You are strong. You are loving. You are loved. You are kind. You are ever important. You are mentally strong. You are faithful. You are giving. You are a dreamer. You are a doer. You are encouraging. You are sweet. You have people behind you who want only the best for you. You are funny. Your happiness is contagious. You are spirited. You are joyful. You are more than the actions of others. You are your awe inspiring. You are more than these tough times.

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
