Dear Alyssa,

Hey there! First of all, I want to let you know that you’re amazing. You are so positive, cheerful, including, sensitive, artsy, clever, witty, and the list goes on. I could go on and on about how amazing you are, but instead of just listing adjectives, I’m going to carry on.

Thank you for making my first year at Dean College awesome. I remember the first time I met you at Resident Student Association (RSA). I knew from the first moment we met that you and I were going to be best friends for life. You’re stuck with me girl! You have such an awesome way about you that, even under the tremendous amount of pressure you were in (being Miss President in all of your glory), you remained calm and energetic. Me? I’d be thinking, “Oh my gosh what is happening?” I’d be freaking out. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to be there. You have this mentality that everything is going to be okay. I was so nervous my first few weeks, okay let’s be honest. I was nervous my first few months. But when I met you, you made me a much calmer person. I was able to be me.

What I love about our friendship is how similar yet different we are. I’m the shy introvert who drinks coffee to try to be more energetic (there is never too much coffee! Throw as much shade on that as you want, but no. If I could insert coffee emojis in this article, I would.) You are the outgoing extrovert, at least that’s how I see you, who is so energetic! We’re both really positive people who want to change the world. Also, we have so much in common. We love Zoe 101, Orange Is The New Black, Miranda Sings (are you KEEDING me?), cats, sometimes throwing shade on others, food (I’m just saying), and much more. I think we compliment each other nicely!

When I was in public schools, I didn’t have many friends. I felt like an outcast; I never felt accepted. Sure, I had friends. But I always wanted that one best friend who accepted me for me and who did not try to change me. When I met you I thought, “How am I so lucky? This girl is it!” It’s not as if you’re on American Idol and I’m Simon saying, “You’re it! You’re going to the next round of the friend test! Let’s go!” I’m not about that judging life. But I’m trying to thank you for accepting me for who I am. Thank you for being awesome.

When you, me, and Paige hung out at Dean, that was definitely the best day of my freshman year. But binge-watching Parks & Recreation by myself comes pretty close! Anyway, you brought awesome snacks. Wait, scratch that. I should say first that you brought your incredible self and your awesome best friend Paige! And then snacks! It was the best afternoon ever (is it bad that I can sing the theme song of Zoe 101 word by word? If it is, I don’t want to be good!)

Getting to see you this summer was amazing! I am so blessed that I was able to see you. Ice cream and the best person ever sitting across from me! What could get better? I’ll answer that: nothing. Thank you for hanging out with me. Let’s definitely hang out way more this year at Dean College!

Alyssa, you are the best. I don’t know what I’d do without you. You make me a better person; you inspire me to be the best I can be. Thank you for being my best friend, and thank you for changing my life for the better. I love you chica.

Moose love,

Grace

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
