Dear Little Sister,
As your big sister I am supposed to be the one giving you lessons on life, but for as many as you have learned from me, I have learned double of that from you. Patience is one of the many life lessons that you have taught me. Whether it be one of the hundreds of times where I babysat you and you drove me up a wall, or the time that you and your friends trashed the house and blamed it all on me, you taught me that lesson.
You taught me tolerance. After years and years of watching you sneak into my room to steal my clothes I learned that there are some things in life that will never change. Mom telling me that you wouldn't be stealing my clothes if you didn't like my sense of style also made it a little easier too.
You taught me how to kick back and have a good laugh. There are just some things that only sisters understand. Inside jokes have become a common trend and are something that I hope never passes by. Days that go by without laughs with you are days poorly spent.
You taught me trust. I learned that I am the liaison between you and mom. There are just some questions in life that are crucial enough to be asked, but less shameful to be asked to me than to mom. I am forever thankful that I got to have a good laugh out of all of the things you were embarrassed to ask me and are now laughing back on too.
You taught me how to give advice. Whether it be on boys, outfits, friends or what not I'll never forget the nights that you spent sitting on the edge of my bed having conversations about the things that you couldn't talk to anyone else about.
You taught me how to reconcile with friends. There is no one you fight with more than your sister but somehow it always works out in the end. When in the midst of fighting over who's wearing who's clothes you learn lessons about fighting petty fights and what is really important to argue with others over and what is not.
So there's a few things I need to thank you for. Thank you for letting me pick on you until you cried while I said things I didn't mean. Thank you for not judging me when I come downstairs with a rats nest for hair and the same shirt on two days in a row. Thank you for always letting me pick on you about your new boys. Thank you for not ratting me out when I came in past curfew on multiple occasions and thank you for always making me proud.
Overall, you have taught me to be a better friend, role model, and most importantly a sister. There's no better friend than a sister, and no better sister than you.
