Dear best friend,
Thank you. What am I thanking you for? Why are you even wondering that? Well, the answer is everything. You’ve been the one steady thing in my life for a number of years, and that alone deserves a thank you. Through our ups and downs, you’re someone I know would never walk away from me.
You’ve seen me at not only my best, but also my worst. You’ve been there with me through my accomplishments, as well as my downfalls. There are so many unsteady people and things in my life, but knowing you aren’t one of them, is one of the greatest feelings ever. I know when I have something to tell someone- whether it’s good or bad- you’re one of the first people I am going to reach out to.
Thank you for creating so many memories with me. These memories are ones I will cherish forever. Some of these memories may have been created through not so good decisions or drunken nights (and of course sober nights too!), but sometimes bad decisions lead to good memories. I’ll always be there to help your unsteady body up the stairs when you’ve taken one too many shots. Chances are, I’m to blame on that one. So thank you for doing that third shot of tequila with me, friend.
I can’t forget to thank you for loathing those who hurt me. When I try to make excuses for someone who hurt me, you always show me I deserve better. If it wasn’t for you, I may have fallen back into the arms of one too many people who don’t deserve me. Thank you for disliking all of my exes just as much as I do. The fact that you would pour your $8 drink over their head if you saw them at a bar, makes me smile. I really wish that would happen because I would enjoy that encounter a lot.
Thank you for not using my ugly Snapchats against me, even though you screenshot them just in case you ever need blackmail. Thank you for telling me my eyeliner isn’t on point, and helping me fix it. Thank you for supporting all of my crazy obsessions. Thank you for listening to me vent about the same thing over and over. Thank you for your advice on everything, even if I didn’t ask you for any. Thank you for being you. And most importantly, thank you for being my best friend.
