A Letter To My First Apartment

You're worth the bills on the table.

A Letter To My First Apartment

I officially met you two weeks ago. Your lease was signed and my fate (at least for a year) was sealed. Walking into your walls and rooms gave me a sense of home that I can't wait to have everyday. I've been brainstorming ways to decorate you full of fall/decorations, making you bright and cheery for all of those who enter. Pumpkin decorations in October and Santa decorations in December. Sorry for being so basic. You will see people of all shapes &sizes enter your door, including your official owner. Sorry that he's kinda scary, but he's the one who let me live here. You will see boys who I think I love exit the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. The majority of them will never return, and the one who does may be the one to eventually make me leave you someday. You may even meet my parents, who are in the "empty nest" phase and may criticize everything about you in order to get me to move back home. My friends will walk in and compliment you on your beauty, courtesy of my skills. They're good people. Sorry if we get too crazy sometimes, especially at 2am when your walls should be quiet with the night. However, what you really represent for me is a sense of comfort and peace. Emerging adulthood, and a place for me to be alone after a long day. I'm no longer able to call on Mom or Dad if I need help getting something off your shelves. A chair will suffice I guess. You represent independence, a scary but awesome time in my life. No parents, roommates, or children. Just me. You are one of my first twenty something milestones, along with those bills on the dining room table. Utilities, gas, water, yup you aren't free. I'm sorry if I get upset over that sometimes. But you're worth the price. Worth the price of having my own washer&dryer, along with a private bathroom. My independence overrules money. Oh, I'm sorry if the 3 cats I get in the future are a bother. You'll learn to love them too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
