Why is every little thing we do have to be shared on Facebook and Instagram? As someone who won't deny that I do post a lot of content on Facebook, I am withholding some parts of my life. Everything we do revolves being shared. Our place of studies, work and relationship status. Our newest car, home, friends or where we are going. Checking into wherever it is we are. Why? Most social media contains every footprint we leave. What were sightseeing, where we are going and what were wearing. The first place we go to see what someone is up to is social media. Instead of simply enjoying some of the greatest sunsets without taking something other than a mental picture is impossible...we have to share it with everyone!
Maybe a break is in order from social media. Instagram less, post your whereabouts and what you're doing less. Go out and enjoy what the world has to offer without your cell phone. One of my biggest issues with social media is our expectations change. We think that all these gorgeous people on Instagram is what we have to look like. That their relationship is a goal we have to set for our own. That by making it official somewhere online it is really official. Without cell phones, we would be content with ourselves and what we have. Maybe not posting anywhere to make a relationship official makes it more official. If just you two know. Maybe, just maybe you are perfect in your own way. Your talents are enough. Who you're dating is enough. Pictures don't need to be posted and statues don't need to be updated. You don't need validation from the world that your life is enough because it is. The only person who can change your life and how it should be is yourself. Don't change yourself based on likes. Do what you want and enjoy life. The sunsets on your own. Your boyfriend or girlfriend on your own. Your friends on your own. No one needs to know your every update. Be you without basing it off someone else.
We get this image of someone and we think because they have a million likes that we have to look like them. And do all that they do but we don't. What we do ourselves is enough for us. What we look like is enough without social media altering it. We are enough. Not every second has to be updated. Go out and live for yourself. Stop thinking someone else is goals. Set your own goals and be your own goals. You are enough without social media. Stop checking in all the time, updating and posting. Live on your own terms.
