Yes, every major is different. No, that does not mean that some majors are better than others.
Every major is useful and every single major is unique. If there was not a need for these subjects then they would not have become a major in the first place. Every person in this world is different and every single person has a different passion in life. So why do we "major shame"? Why do we say that some majors are better than others? Nursing is not a better major than Theater. They are just completely different. Both students could be equally as passionate and competent in their future fields of work. There is a need for both professions. Early Childhood Education majors should be treated the same as Biology majors. The classes and the work may completely differ but one is not harder or more important than the other. We need both of them for our society to thrive.
Saying that your chosen major is harder than another can be extremely hurtful to someone who is passionate about that subject. We all are just trying to chose the best major for our lives and we should not be putting people down for the major they are in. Passion is the key to a good work ethic and if you apply yourself you can go far in life, no matter the major you chose in college. Stop major shaming and just focus on bettering yourself. Let's be supportive of our fellow students and encourage them to succeed in life.
