Let's Not Hate Our Parents

Instead of going through the hating phase lets go through a loving phase

Let's Not Hate Our Parents
Carly Shapiro

Everyone goes through a phase of hating their parents. Everything they do somehow embarrasses us, even if they are just talking to the family. We believe that they are out to get us, to take away our freedom, to think poorly of us, to make our lives miserable, the list could go on forever. What we often forget is that our parents love us unconditionally, through our ups and our downs. And instead of going through the phase of hating our parents we should be going through a phase of appreciating our parents. Oh wait, we should appreciate them every day.

If you're in that phase of hating your parents, I hope this article reminds you why you should be thankful for them!

Our parents have loved us from the moment we took our first breath. They have watched us grow up and have been our role model from day one. They cried when we said our first word, or took our first step. Our parents are proud of every little thing we do. Our parents are our biggest cheerleaders whether we believe it or not.

Our parents are the ones that taught us all those life lessons that we should follow every day. They have instilled values in us that we should never forget. Our parents have taught us the importance of being kind to others and how being kind is an asset in today’s competitive and hectic world. Our parents have taught us the important of dedication, whether it was from forcing us to complete our homework in elementary school or watching our parents work hard. Our parents are the ones that showed us the importance of family. From the endless game nights to family vacations to crazy family dinners; we have learned that family is important and something never want to lose.

So next time you are doubting your love for your parents, I hope you remember that they really are the people who made you who you are today and will love you unconditionally forever. So if you haven't called your parents today, give them a call just to tell them you love them, I guarantee it will make their day better and put a smile on their faces. I am going to make that call now.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
