Here I am, laying in bed in my favorite Free People tank top and comfy undies from Aerie. Dirty Dancing is on the television and I'm hooked, even though I really should be cleaning my disaster of a room or studying, but sometimes you have to let go of all of your worries and do something you enjoy.
I guess where I'm getting at with this narrative of my current state of the union is that WE as stressed out, over-worked college students cannot get consumed with schoolwork, clubs, activities, and work to the point of burn out. To avoid that it is critical to find some me time in your busy week. It doesn't have to be much...maybe your idea of "me" time is ten minutes of yoga or reading your favorite book, maybe it's binge watching a few episodes of your favorite Netflix series or jamming out on your guitar. Whatever it is, do it. It'll alleviate the pressures and stresses from your mind, allowing you to accomplish whatever tasks you have to get done in a more efficient manner.
"Me Time" is valuable. It is important and so often overlooked. Here are some options you could partake in your me time:
-Read a book
-Cook a new recipe
-Play a sport
-Watch television, a movie, Netflix, etc
-Play an instrument
-Eat your favorite ice cream
-Go on a run
-Draw
-Go shopping (Or if your broke, window shopping!)
-Admire your surroundings
Whatever you decide to do remember your time is valuable and you deserve some of it too. Make time for yourself and your interests. Your body and mind will greatly benefit from it allowing you to accomplish all the tasks you need to and more.
Now as I'm finishing this article up and as Dirty Dancing is coming to an end I am reminded that I need to get back to cleaning my room and maybe cracking open a book. But let me tell you, I am ready to absolutely go to town on my room. Maybe it's because its an absolute disaster...or maybe...just maybbeee it's because I took an hour and forty-five minutes out of my busy day to just sit down, relax, and enjoy a great movie. Peace & Blessings.
