Time to be a Sister

It's time for the moment we've all been waiting for. Initiation. I already found my house, where I fit in the most. I found the girls who love me for me and won't leave my side no matter what. These girls will have my back no matter what, they will never judge me for anything that I might have done or will do.

With initiation comes the various new knowledge and people who are in my life. First is my big, she will always be there for me no matter what. Even though we are the same age and will graduate together (weird) but it's okay, she still has more knowledge than me when it comes to navigating through Greek life but also just MSU in general because technically I am a first-year student at the university and I have the amount of knowledge that a freshman has but with the ability to manage time and excel in classes. But anyway, she's my guide for the remainder of my 3 years at MSU.

Second is all the friends that I have made in my first 2 months, if I didn't have this sorority I would have never met any of these awesome girls whom I have a lot more in common than I would have ever thought about. Most of them are like me, very studious and focused only on one goal in life and that getting a good education. Which helps me in the end because then it proves that I have good taste in choosing my friends.

These friends will be there for me till I die, I know a lot of people ask why should you pay to have friends but listen up, obviously everyone thinks like that. I mean I do and so do my friends and that's the reason we all bonded in the first place, even though that might be a negative aspect of being in Greek life, that's not the only aspect. We all get along so well that I can't even to begin to explain what I would do if I had never met them. If I had never met them, I don't think I could be the person that I am today without them.

There are many more aspects to being in a sorority and those include being able to help reach out and help the community around us. Giving back to the community means the word to me especially because I love volunteering and that shapes me to the person that I am. So, if being in a sorority makes me a better person sign me up. Because all I want in life is to be a better person and I strive to shape the people around me and if they can help me in return that's all I ask for.

So yes, let's take on initiation and see where my Pi Beta Phi journey will take me next. I mean they do say that the sorority never leaves you even after college. I especially cannot wait to the angel band that we get to wear on our left pinky finger. I live for cute dainty jewelry and being able to match with my sisters makes me smile.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
