The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling is by far one of my favorite book series. She was brilliant in the make up of her characters and in the unfolding of her plot. Her imagination brought her readers into a whole new world, education, and way of life. After reading her books, I think anyone can admit to having a desire to walk down the cobblestone streets of Diagon Alley, taste the sweet warmth of butterbeer, soar through the sky on a broomstick, or watch an exhilarating game of Quidditch. However, Rowling’s books reveal more than just a fantasy world full of magic and wizards. Her books, her words, give us something to think about. They give us ideas to apply to our own lives. So here is a list of quotes given to us by Albus Dumbledore himself-one of the wisest, caring, and trustworthy characters of the series.
1. “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that”
2."It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends."
3.“The fact that you can feel pain like this is your greatest strength”
4.“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
5."Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
6."We must all face the choice between what is right, and what is easy."
7."The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with caution."
8.“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it.”
9.“We must try not to sink beneath our anguish, but battle on.”
10.“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are far more than our abilities.”
These quotes give us something important to think about. They force us to think about our character and the type of person we want to be to those around us. They encourage us to think about what’s important in life. They give hope. There’s more than just fiction to these books. They include wise words and thoughts, causing readers to reflect. These quotes simply reveal more of J.K Rowling’s brilliance when she wrote the Harry Potter series.
