An Open Letter To My Best Friend
Suzanne Searcy

Dear Best Friend,

As I sit here and write this I struggle to find words, because the type of friendship that we have is hard to describe. I am writing this letter because it is so easy to forget to thank you, and boy do I have a lot to thank you for. I want to thank you for everything, even though I know that's impossible.

I want to thank you for always being there when I need you. You are the type of person that is dependable, reliable. That is so important. It is so rare to find someone that is genuine and honest with who they are. Your personality is radiant, it is so wonderful to be around. You make the world a beautiful place.

Thank you for being someone I can always go to, with anything, without fear from judgement. You are always what I need you to be. You are a therapist, a tutor, a calculator, a Netflix binge-watcher, a three am cookout run partner, stable (breakfast, lunch and dinner) date, interior designer, church and bible study companion, and overall partner in crime. I am so lucky to have found you.

I can only hope that I am half of the friend that you are, because that's still a lot to live up to. You're amazing and do not get the credit that you deserve. This happens because you're the behind the scenes person, you go around making sure everyone is taken care of, and loved on, and you don't take any credit for it. Those type of people, are THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES. I hope on the days where you feel unappreciated, just remember that I consider myself sooo lucky to be a part of your life. You are the type of person that changes the world and to just be able to be by your side for whatever adventures lay ahead, I'm blessed.

Love,

The lemon to your pear

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
