Leaving College, Next Step: Job!

Reflections on how I have been prepared.

I am about to graduate college, and I am ready for it!

As I reflect on this summer, which is quickly coming to an end, and all these years that I have been in school coming to an end, I realize that I am ready to be done with school for a while. From when I was in preschool until I graduated high school, I attended the same school; I loved it, the opportunities I received and it was just plain awesome!

The smallness of the school was something that I enjoyed. My graduating class was ten people, and then when I began to attend Trinity, I thought it was huge.

Thinking back on my college career, I have to say, it has been amazing! I love the people, I appreciate the classes and I welcome the trials. But as I embark on my senior year, I am ready to be done.

I am ready to be done paying for college. Don't get me wrong, college is a great time to discover many things, but it is also very expensive, especially if you go to a private school. I am ready to be done paying for my education, even though I do think investing in education is worth it.

I am ready to get a job. I have had jobs on campus, but I am looking forward to going out into the workforce, to be in ministry and to apply my learning. I am also thrilled to see what God has for me and am excited to show others how He has gifted me.

I am ready to invest in another community. I love the community at my school, and I have poured so much into it, but now it is time for God to raise others up to lead. Plus, it is exhilarating to see what God has in store for the community at Trinity.

Finally, I am prepared to leave a legacy. This year I have been doing a lot of mentoring and helping to equip other people, not because I think I am the best, but because I believe God has gifted me with abilities of leadership, to delight in leading others through their development as leaders and to have opportunities to speak into their lives—and vice versa.

It is scary preparing to graduate, but it is exciting to find out what God has in store for me. I would appreciate your prayers as I find this out.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
