1. Do not go 102 in a 55
Just don’t, no matter how fun and exciting it may be it is not worth it. My heart was pounding and all I wanted to do was go faster and faster and the nerves were starting to shiver all over my body and when I saw the infamous red, white and blue, I thought I was going to end up in jail.
2. North Dakota speeding fines are a f#@king joke
I got caught going 102 and the fine was 110, the freaking fine was only one hundred and ten dollars. I got a speeding ticket in Ohio going nowhere near that and it was 180. In my hometown Chicago, I would probably be in jail or charged with reckless driving, and most likely assault with a deadly weapon.
3. Points on your license are no fun
You would expect going nearly twice the speed limit would bump up your insurance rate. Well the thing about that is… It does! In the state of North Dakota the max amount of points you can acquire on your license is 15. Want to know what I got… you guessed it, 15 points, ding ding ding we have a winner.
4. It is dangerous
After going those colossal speeds I’ve realized to maybe not go that fast on public roads. While it was fun, crazy, scary, exciting, heart-pounding, reckless, stupid, mundane, absurd, I still could have easily died. One wrong twitch, one bump in the road and I would be doing cartwheels into oblivion and singing with the devil himself.
5. Cops are cool and kind of snake-like
This slithery bastard didn’t even tell me I got a ticket for speeding until he handed me the ticket. He was actually pretty cool through the whole ordeal. While I was freaking out thinking I was going to jail he did not yell, did not ask me too many questions, the fine officer just did his job and went on his marry little way. No fuss no muss.
What to do if this happens to you!
Take it to court, TAKE IT TO COURT, TAKE IT TO FREAKING COURT! It will give you more time to have your license if it is going to get suspended. I requested a court hearing about a week and half ago, still waiting for my court date, and as of now I am just under the presumption that it was dropped. Or I messed up and there may or may not be a warrant for my arrest, then in that case I’ll be meeting with Dog the Bounty Hunter soon.
