What I Learned As A Freshman

College is a time to take on new responsibilities, become independent, and discover a side of yourself you never known. But as you observe, many of your peers seem like they got their life together and you are sitting here wondering "What is wrong with me?" But it is going to be okay. Here are the

Do's and Do NOT's

of the next four wonderful and dreadful years of your life.

1. DO: TRY NEW THINGS.

This is the moment where you should try to step a little out of your comfort zone. I mean don't get crazy with it, but you would be surprised as what you find such as new interests, food, and people. You might just find something that makes you feel whole.

2. DON'T: Party every weekend.

Sure, have fun once in a while. But, college parties get pretty intense and most of the people there you don't even know. Yes, it is nice to go out and meet new people, but don't forget you here to get an education.

3. DO: Workout and eat.

Guys, the Freshman Fifteen is no joke. But do not starve yourself either because you will just retain the fat. Workout at least thirty minutes a day and eat (your vegetables). It makes a huge difference on your perspective on your day.

4. DON'T: Wait to do assignments.

You think "Oh, I can do whatever and not give a crap because my paper is not due until next week." DO NOT be fooled because it will slap you in the face out of nowhere. When that due date comes closer the assignments you have to do never seem to end.

5. DO: STUDY.

You are assigned a quiz the next class and you feel pretty confident you can just wing it. But, once you get it you really regret that choice. Sure, you can wing some things, but take a few hours to study. It will make you feel safer, not sorry.

6. DON'T: Do things you wouldn't do sober.

This plays back to everything said prior. College gives people the thinking process that they can do anything without consequences. But, once you wake up and realize what you did the night before you might just bury yourself in shame.

7. DO: Clean Your room.

Yeah, okay. But, when you live with someone you can't be messy. Because once you realize that you should clean your room, it's too late and your room is infested with bugs. Plus, it gives you self-satisfaction when you see your room clean. Like "Dang my room be looking sexy and I did it by myself." GO YOU!

8. DON'T: Get Attached.

Remember that attractive person you met at that one party and you guys got a little intimate. Well, just keep there, because I know a lot of people who like to overthink the situation and all of a sudden they think they are soulmates. Don't put yourself in that misery, you have other things to worry about like that paper that's due tomorrow.

9. DO: Speak Your Mind.

People are going to say something about you whether you do or you do not state your thoughts. So, do say something when something is bothering you in general because there might just be a solution to fix the problem.

10. DON'T: Skip Class.

That nap seems very enticing, but you have to go to class within the next hour. You think "I'll just skip, the professor doesn't even take attendance." But, the problem is you paid for that class and you might miss vital information that you might have to use for the next exam. And it will be your grades in result.

OVERALL: Just do YOU!

Life is meant to be enjoy. So, let those slip-ups be lessons. And just smile and forget the haters!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
