One of the greatest decisions I made in college - besides swiping right for my boyfriend - was joining my sorority. It has given me many amazing opportunities for leadership and I cannot thank my sisters enough. Depending on the type of school you go to, you may also get the opportunity to live in the sorority house. Living in a sorority house has its perks, but it also has its downsides. You have the ability to roll out of bed and go to Chapter Meetings, but you will also hear girls running down the halls at 2 a.m. Here are just some of the many things you will learn:

1. Girls are messier than boys

Don’t believe me? Walk into a sister’s room. You will find a few cups of instant mac & cheese, one Starbucks cup from a few weeks ago and an old Chipotle bag. Don’t worry though, she’ll clean it up before a guy comes over or an RA checks her room. Your kitchen will always be messy. Your sisters will be baking brownies for her boyfriend’s fraternity and the kitchen will always be used to cook for events involving food. On the brightside, you will always get the leftovers from any event. Also, be sure to take a peak at the bathrooms on a Saturday night - they will look like a Sephora makeup counter on steroids.

2. People in the house do a lot more than you think

When you live in a sorority house, you are automatically a volunteer for every event. You will unload cars, bake cookies and setup tables. Sisters in the house know the interworking for the entire chapter. Your room will be used as a dressing room and a storage closet. You will accumulate clothes that don’t fit you and you will lose some of your favorites -- RIP grey tank top.

3.The rules do not get enforced as much as you thought

Don’t worry, no one will get hurt, but there will be boys after hours and your president definitely has a few glass bottles in her room. The RA won’t mind as long as they can’t see it, and no one cares as long you keep it quiet. Don’t be stupid and everything will be fine.

4. That scary older girl isn’t really that mean

Every chapter has that girl. She yells at you when you’re whispering in Chapter Meeting and she’ll send you home if the straps of your dress are too thin. She seems rude but after you get to know her, she just cares. She wants what is best for her chapter because her letters mean so much to her. She holds herself to a higher standard and she’ll make sure you are doing the same. After living with her you’ll realize she’s actually a lot of fun.

5. Your sisters will be there for you when no one else will

Your boyfriend broke up with you? Your sisters will be there with some Rocky Road. Huge spider in your shower? Your sisters are running down the stairs with Raid. Failed that chemistry test? They won’t judge you for eating an entire pizza and sobbing because you’ll never be Meredith Grey. They’ll be there for you at your worst and your best. Living in a sorority house is living the lyrics to “I’ll Be There For You” from Friends.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
