For centuries the American public has been protected by law enforcement. They have been there to save the wounded, protect the innocent, and capture the evil. However, there has been a recent shift in the ranks nationwide as a new type of officer has been added. Meet the robocop.

They first started in malls for a rate of $7. Though they have been slowly moving up in the world. At the moment, there are roughly 10,000 drones in the U.S. military and 12,000 unmanned vehicles on land. Though it goes past malls and military as robocops are integrated with local and state police officers. What does this mean for you? It sounds pretty scary, perhaps intrusive, that robots are working their way into society. It sure doesn't help either that robots have a negative connotation in society. Self-thinking beings with an indifferent attitude towards the human race can be a cause of concern for the general public. However, it can be very hard to make assumptions about these robots when not many people know the facts.

Robocops are many used as surveillance. In the military, they are then used for destruction (seeing as they can self-destruct). This way officers are out of harm’s way when it comes to being anywhere near the explosives. Also, they can travel long distances alone which creates the perfect "sneak attack" plan. Though for civilian use, these robocops appear to be harmless. They have no reason to hurt anyone; they just patrol the area and record. They have infrared vision, the top camera systems, and they can process up to three hundred parking plates at once. Not so scary right? Assuming you don’t speed or park illegally. Then that might be bad.

So for the greater good, robocops are probably for the better. They can limit the around of police on the streets so that those officers can get other things done. Plus with less officers out and about there might be fewer conflicts between the police and public (i.e. police brutality in the news). With robocops just zooming around, unable to argue back, they (hypothetically) should be able to do their job. Of course there is the thought pf people defacing, disrupting, and peeing on the machines, however there would probably be ordinances in place to prevent such act.

Overall, robocops can be a huge help to the world. Granted all it takes is one robot uprising to bring the whole operation down, though realistically the chances of that happening are slim to none. These robots would be highly protected and guarded at all times with GPS tracking so that authorities know where they are every minute of every day. Now yes, people are crazy and can cause great damage if the right tools fall in the wrong hands. However, the public needs to take a chance to realize that this is a great thing that should not be interfered with. More justice would occur if everything was recorded and more evidence was collected via video camera. This change can be revolutionary, as long as it all goes right.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
