Laura Lee's Beauty Guru Drama In The YouTube Community Is An Ugly Look

I used to look up to her but now all I see is her running away from a problem instead of facing it.

Recently the beauty community has blown up over a photo that Gabriel Zamora posted on Instagram. This first started as an attack on Jeffree Star after the series with Shane Dawson came out and it completely backfired on everyone involved in this picture.

So I'll spill the tea and give you all the details. About a week ago someone uncovered some racists tweets that Laura Lee had said. Laura Lee is a famous YouTube beauty guru that captured everyone's hearts for her makeup and her Alabama accent. Here are two of her tweets that people screenshotted before she deleted her account.

Laura would delete her account if she's guilty and she didn't want anyone else finding anything. Then she decided to Tweet out an apology and asked her fans to "give her time for this" which basically meant give her PR team time so they can write her apology for her. In her apology, she said "six years ago" but six years ago would have made her 23 and if she was 23 she was old enough to know better. Some people think that Laura only apologized because her career would be over if she didn't.

One of the biggest things in this drama is the fact that Laura, Manny, Gabriel, and Nikita had called out Jeffree Star for being racist. Laura said, "how could you ever stan a racist?" It was almost like when Jeffree did it and made a long video apologizing, that it wasn't okay for them to be friends with him. Then when the situation is reversed, Laura begs everyone for forgiveness. It's very much a double standard and a hypocrite.

Then there was a thing with her makeup palette. If you were subscribed to the Boxycharm box, you got her new party animal palette. Look at how Laura portrays her colors versus how the colors actually are:

This is how Laura portrayed the colors to be.

While everyone was still waiting on a YouTube video from Laura, they started destroying their makeup and calling her out for selling people trash.

A week later she made a four-minute long YouTube video apologizing and saying how she changed and lives in a more diverse world now. Jenna Marbles uploaded a 47-minute apology video for getting the wrong fish tank but Laura uploaded a four-minute video of her fake crying for racist tweets. I think the one big thing that Laura said is that she blames Alabama for her being uneducated which made people angrier and more frustrated at her and started unsubscribing. So here's her subscriber count as of Wednesday, Aug 22:

I used to watch Laura's videos because I thought she was a nice person and funny, now that I saw a tweet from a few years ago, that was wrong and disrespectful. I used to look up to her but now all I see is her running away from a problem instead of facing it. In my opinion, Jeffree is the king of YouTube. He's humble and knows it's not about all of the money. He donates to a lot of LGBTQ+ charities with the money he makes from selling his cosmetics line. He's invested in a lot of different things and he talked all about this in the Shane Dawson Series.

It's been very interesting to see how this all plays out. Jeffree found out who his true friends really are and let karma take care of the rest.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
