Since their release, emojis have taken the world by storm.
While more conservative elders may claim that emojis are detrimental incorporations to the English language, it is surely hard to deny that these captivating figures have not sparked a unparalleled language of their own. In fact, it is not solely teens and young adults who are avidly using this form of communication, parents and grandparents have now hopped aboard this trend, sending their younger loved ones every emoji under the sun as a response.
Being that emojis are now deeply integrated in society, it is essential that improvements be made to this very basic form of articulation, and with World Emoji Day approaching on July 17, new advancements have been reported that can now make this possible.
It has been announced that The Unicode Emoji Subcommittee has approved eleven new female characters that support gender equality.
These emojis will feature women in the professions of: rockstars, teaching, biology, computer technology, construction, agriculture, culinary arts and medicine.
This improvement seeks to lessen the disparities in gender that were previously evident in various emojis. Whereas before, there were only male basketball players and weightlifters, now users with be able to chose between using male or female characters.
Additionally, individuals can now also have the option to change the skin tone of more characters.
In an effort to further eradicate any inequalities, there are currently demands to release disabled people and athlete emojis as well.
With so much violence and hate ensuing in the world, it is imperative that large companies do all they can to promote love and equality amongst all human beings.
