With about a month left before school starts for most universities, now is the perfect time to take a last minute vacation. With most internships or summer jobs are coming to an end, now is the perfect moment to get away from either your home town or college town. And if you have been at either for the whole summer, you should want to get away for a weekend before all the responsibilities begin this fall. As college students it is easy to plan a pricey luxury vacation that we could never afford. But if you really want to get away and are ballin’ on a budget; this article should be your bible.
1. Drive there.
Buying gas for a road trip is cheaper than buying a plane ticket. This also means you should keep in in the U.S (it’s last minute after all).
2. Hotels.
You don’t need to stay at the Ritz Carlton or Four Season. The Hampton or Holiday in will do just fine.
3. Food.
The number one food tip is make sure you are staying at a hotel that serves continental breakfast. Other than that just budget your money, and don’t spend all of it on drinks either.
4. Transportation.
Whether you choose to drive your own car around or are going to a place with other forms of transportation; compare prices. For example, if you are going to New York you might want to walk or get a MetroCard for the weekend. Taking a Taxi tends to be more expensive. But if you are going to Nashville, you can go ahead and drive.
5. Free fun.
There are always fun things to do around towns that are free. Finding out when and where they are, is as easy as searching it in google.
6. Make a Plan.
Even though it is last minute, there is nothing wrong with planning out what you want to do. It is also best if you hit up the same parts of town in one day. That way you aren’t going all over town from one end to the next. This also means you won’t stray and spend extra money.
7. BUDGET.
Have a set amount that you can and are willing to spend on this mini-vacation, and stick to it. You still have to buy books in the fall.
